Meeting Blake

We have had Blake home for a week now. Brianne loves her little brother and is excited to have a "ba" which is her word for baby. She has been very good and has adapted well since he came home. The baby einstein videos help too! She likes to watch them with her giraffe while I am feeding Blake. It has been wonderful having him out of the hospital and at home. It's also been exhausting. Uncle Dallas, Aunt Katherine, and Cousin Dallas got to hold him for the first time today. Cousin Dallas is happy to have a boy cousin now. Bebe and Paw Paw have been a huge help with Brianne. I would not have made it through this week without them!

Blake Francis Reeves has Arrived

Blake Francis Reeves arrived August 17th at 2:17pm. He weighs 7 lbs. 5 oz. and is 19 inches long. He is beautiful! He has had some complications since he was born. He is in the neonatal intensive care unit here at the hospital fighting RDS. RDS stands for Respiratory Distress Syndrome. It is most commonly seen in premature babies and we aren't sure why baby Blake has it. His breathing is rapid and he is being given oxygen through a tube in his nose and is being given medicine through an iv. It has been pretty scary, but he is a fighter and is doing very well. He is stable and they are slowly weaning him from the oxygen. If he continues to do well we should be able to bring him home the middle of next week. Brianne has not been allowed to meet Blake yet, but she is having fun with her BeBe and Paw Paw. Justin and I really appreciate their help with her. We ask that everyone keep Blake in their prayers.

First Trip to the Zoo

We took Brianne to the Greenville Zoo today. She had a blast! We saw elephants, giraffes, tigers, lions, turtles, snakes, flamingos, and monkeys. Guess which her favorite was?? The giraffes ofcourse! She was very hungry afterward. She is drinking out of her big girl cup now. And she will not eat grilled cheese that has been broken into pieces for her, she has to have a whole slice. Too cute!

Dallas's 4th Birthday, Arrrgh!

Here are some pics from Dallas's 4th Birthday party. It was a pirate themed party at a gymnastics complex. Ms. Barbara made a very cute outfit for Brianne. It had pirate themed buttons sewn on the front and pink ribbon with a skull and crossbones. Very pirate sheik. All the kids had a lot of fun, including Brianne!
